    Clayton Hotel Manchester (6 nights)

    The tour will commence at the Clayton Hotel Manchester, our hotel for the next six nights. For those arriving early in the day, there’s time to explore Manchester before a short welcome briefing with our CATO Tour Director. This evening we attend the Official Ashes Function to get a superb insight into our cricket celebrities’ thoughts on the Series ahead and Day One at Old Trafford.

    After breakfast we travel by private coach to Oxford, home of the oldest university in the English-speaking world with spectacular architecture dating back to the late Anglo-Saxon period. On arrival, you will have the option of joining a guided walking tour around this historic but modern city or free time to leisurely explore the city with its scenic waterways and green spaces. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.

    Today we travel back to London by private coach to start the remainder of our tour. On arrival at our hotel, located on the banks of the Thames, you have the remainder of the day to enjoy at your leisure.

    After breakfast enjoy a short walk along the Southbank of the River Thames to the London Eye, Europe’s tallest Ferris wheel where you can enjoy amazing 360-degree views over London.  After our ride we join a river cruise along the Thames departing from the nearby Waterloo Pier. The remainder of the afternoon is free to explore the Southbank and its many cultural attractions, or cross Westminster Bridge for a closer view of the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and Downing Street.

    Late afternoon we join fellow Australian cricket fans at the Official Ashes Function to preview the Test ahead at The Oval.

    The start of the final Test of the 2023 Ashes Series at The Oval! The Oval is a short walk from the hotel however, if you require assistance this can be arranged. On the night of Day Five (31 July) we’ll enjoy a farewell dinner at a local London restaurant to share some unforgettable memories.

Important Information

This Fully Escorted Tour includes:
  • Accommodation as detailed including breakfast daily.
  • Priority reserved seating at the Fourth and Fifth Ashes Tests (see Important Notes)
  • Return private coach transfers to Old Trafford, Visitor Oyster Card in London pre-loaded with £50 of credit
  • Official Ashes Pre Match Functions in Manchester (18 July) and London (26 July) including entertainment, finger food and beverages
  • Private match strategy session with CA Team Management and/or former Test greats
  • Group dinner in London (31 July)
  • London Eye and River Cruise
  • Private coach for all touring detailed in the itinerary
  • CATO Tour Director to accompany the group throughout
  • Team merchandise (2 x polo shirts, a jacket, cap and backpack)
Not included:
  • International airfare to/from the United Kingdom.
  • Airport arrival and departure transfers (see information below)
  • Porterage and baggage handling, as most guests prefer to handle their own baggage. The CATO Tour Director will be available to facilitate baggage handling if required.
  • Any meal or item not mentioned in the itinerary or specified in Tour Inclusions above.
  • Items of a personal nature (telephone calls, internet, laundry, mini-bar, etc.).
  • Passport and/or visa costs where applicable.
  • Travel insurance.
Important Notes:
  • Tours are limited and subject to availability at the time of booking.
  • Day One to Four match tickets provide a reserved seat and Day Five may be general admission (non-reserved) or reserved seat depending on final ground configuration.

Airport arrival and departure transfers
Arrival and departure transfers have not been included in the tour, as many CATO clients have opted not to use these services in the past. Once your flights are confirmed, CATO will be more than happy to provide a quote for arrival and departure transfers.
Arrival and extra nights’ accommodation
All Escorted Tours commence the day before the start of the Ashes Test Match. For those wanting a more relaxed start to the tour, extra nights’ accommodation can be added to your stay. Please contact your CATO sales consultant for costs.
