The tour will commence at the Radisson Blu Birmingham, our hotel for the next six nights. For those arriving early in the day, there’s time to explore Birmingham before a short welcome briefing with our CATO Tour Director. This evening we attend the Official Ashes Function to get a superb insight into our cricket celebrities’ thoughts on the Series ahead and Day One at Edgbaston.

First Ashes Test - Edgbaston B
The start of another exciting Series! Each day you will be transferred well in advance of the start of play for the First Ashes Test at Edgbaston, with a return transfer to your hotel at the end of each days play.

Tuesday 6 AUGUST 2019
Birmingham - Rome BD
Our Italian adventure commences this morning. After breakfast we travel by coach to London Heathrow for our flight to the ancient city of Rome. Our late afternoon arrival allows time to freshen up at the hotel before gathering together for an evening meal with our fellow tour participants.

Rome Sightseeing B
A full day exploring the wonders of ancient Rome – we start our day with a visit to the Vatican City; the smallest internationally recognized independent state in the world and home of the Catholic Church. There’s time to take in the sights before a visit to one of Europe’s most recognised landmarks, the Colosseum, the world’s largest amphitheatre.

THURSDAY 8 AUGUST 2019
Rome - Florence B
After breakfast we commence our journey to Florence and the Tuscany Region, stopping enroute in Siena, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We also visit Piazza Del Campo, famous for the region’s biannual horse race, Palio. Lunch will be at leisure before our mid-afternoon arrival in Florence.

Friday 9 AUGUST 2019
Florence Sightseeing B
This morning we take a guided tour of Florence, including access to the historic Santa Croce burial place, rebuilt for the Franciscan order in 1294. There will be free time to further explore Florence’s magnificent cathedrals and galleries in the afternoon and evening.

SATURDAY 10 AUGUST 2019
Cinque Terre Sightseeing B
Today is a full day to the iconic Cinque Terre, the rugged portion of coast on the Italian Riviera made up of five villages built into the cliffs overlooking the sea. We spend the day exploring the narrow lanes, steep stairways and dramatic views of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will be visiting two of the villages – Monterosso, the largest and Vernazza, considered by many to be the most charming village along the coast.

SUNDAY 11 AUGUST 2019
Florence - Venice B
Our Italian adventure continues to Venice, the world’s only pedestrian city, stopping at Verona to view ‘Juliette’s Balcony’, famous from Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliette’. After settling in at our hotel, you may choose to take a traditional Gondola ride (own expense) and explore the spectacular canals and bridges.
Our hotel in Venice, Hilton Molino Stucky, is spectacular. Located on the peaceful banks of Giudecca Island, the property is a former flour mill refurbished to become a unique hotel. This Venetian masterpiece features a rooftop swimming pool and the largest spa in the city, there is also a water shuttle connecting to the mainland.

Venice Sightseeing B
This morning we enjoy a historical and artistic introduction to this magnificent floating city with a guided walking tour. We pass sights including St. Mark’s Square, the political centre of the Venetian Republic and Doges Palace, Residence of the ‘Kings of Venice’ and the most important seat of government in the Serenissima Republic. The afternoon is at leisure.

TUESDAY 13 AUGUST 2019
Venice - London BC
We say “Arrivederci Venice” and board our flight to London where the Second Test awaits. There’s time to relax at the hotel on arrival, before we join many other Australian supporters at the Official Ashes Dinner Function in the evening to preview the Test ahead at Lord’s.

WEDNESDAY 14 AUGUST TO SUNDAY 18 AUGUST 2019
Second Ashes Test – Lord’s BD - 18 August
Possibly one of the highlights for any cricket enthusiast would be a trip to the home of cricket - Lord’s, add the fact that this is the Second Ashes Test and excitement will be at fever pitch! Each day we have private transfers to and from Lord’s and on the night of Day Five (18 August) we’ll enjoy a farewell dinner at a local London restaurant to share some unforgettable memories.
